Capt. Bert Holmes (Right)
becomes the newest member of the Puget Sound Pilots. His election this year raised to 30 the number of men who board ships coming from sea, and pilot them while they are on Puget Sound and adjacent waters. Capt. Holmes was welcomed into the organization by Capt. Leonard A. Davis, president of the Puget Sound Pilots and also a member of the State Board of Pilotage Commissioners. Homes, who resided in Olalla, Kitsap County, was master of the Coho, Black Ball Transport ship, before joining the pilots. Previously he had been a tugboat skipper.
