This is a bow-on view of a 100-foot steel tuna vessel that has the profile look of a Japanese sampan. It was launched yesterday by the Martinolich Shipbuilding Corp of Tacoma for Jack Shinsato of the Angel Fishing Co of Honolulu. Christened with saki as the ANELA, the 850- HP boat was scheduled to work for Hawaiians of Japanese descent. The ANELA, that means 'Angel' in Hawaiian, cost $350,000 and will have a carrying capacity of 100 tons.

  1. The ANELA was sitting pretty much abandoned in S.E. Alaska until 2017. I bought it, spent 2 years rebuilding it and brought it back to life. It is currently a Salmon Tender based out of Seattle, but works in Kodiak, AK.
